The Hinneni PRoject:

My painting of my Zayde, my grandfather, who survived the Holocaust, holding my brother. I created this for an art project called Roots & Branches by the Partnership2gether organization.

The theme of the project is Jewish continuity and ancestry. I could not think of a better idea for the concept of Root and Branches, than my Zayde. Despite what the Nazis did to his family and the extreme circumstances he faced on his journey to survive, he maintained an optimistic outlook on life that is not only incredibly inspiring, but also a testament of faith.

While he passed when I was a baby, his story has impacted me greatly and serves as the root of my Jewish pride. I’ve titled the piece L’dor V’dor, Hebrew for “from generation to generation,” signifying the responsibility of passing down Jewish tradition, sustaining our heritage, and preserving our community.

May his memory be a blessing
